Responsible Animal Fiber
The most challenging concern of animal fiber is the assurance of animal welfare from the farm to harvest. TE’s responsible animal fiber standards; Responsible Down Standard (RDS) and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) were introduced to avoid unnecessary harm and ensure welfare for the animals within the fiber sourcing process and assure the same responsibly sourced fibers are in the final claimed product through the supply chain.
Responsible Down Standard (RDS)
RDS is to ensure that the down and feathers come from geese and ducks are treated humane and no forced feeding or live-plucking is taken place, then the supply chain until the final product to ensure that the claimed down or feather in the final product such as jacket, pillow or bedding those materials are genuinely stuffed in.
The brands and retailers who are keen on responsible and ethical sourcing, and listen to their customers who are humane and animal friendly, rightly select their jackets, pillows, sleeping bags, and many other products certified to RDS.
We, “Clean Globe” conduct audit and certification for the sites perform post-harvesting to the final retailer of down products (supply chain) based on the Content Claim Standard (CCS).
Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)
Beyond an animal welfare standard, RWS addresses certain environmental and social aspects. Sheep that are grown for wool shall be treated well and mulesing by any method is prohibited. Addressing the environment by progressive methods of land management practices protecting soil health, biodiversity, and native species and social aspects of the workers on RWS farms are adding values as a comprehensive animal-friendly plus sustainability standard.
By the RWS certified product, the brands and retailers who are keen on responsible, ethical, as well as sustainable sourcing able to present their customers not only comfort of wool in the jacket, sweater, cap, socks, toy, or any other product but a story of pride being a contributor for a blood-free, environment-friendly, and humane journey.
